National RF’s Type NDB-2 and NDB-3 RF Milliwatt Meters are affordable pieces of test equipment for both the RF laboratory and the home experimenter. Both provide a digital reading of RF power in dB reference 1 milliwatt of power into a 50 ohm load (i.e. 0 dBm). The circuitry consists of a low noise logarithmic amplifier that drives a digital A/D converting meter circuit. The lowest power levels that can be read are about –73 dBm (approximately 40 microvolts or .00000003 milliwatts). The maximum power input should not exceed 10 milliwatts (+10 dBm or .010 watts) when inputed without attenuation. An internal attenuator is provided and described in the next section.

The PIAB LKVE electronic overload protection system consists of a force transmitter with amplifier and an electronic signal processing unit. The PIAB LKVE force transmitter is attached to a stationary line part. The rope is deflected via a slight angle between the two wheels and the clamping jaw. When loaded, the rope tends to straighten and applies a force which is transmitted to the load cell. The load cell in the PIAB LKVE delivers a signal proportional to the force on the load cell. The signal is amplified and is converted to 4-20mA. This standardized signal (4-20mA) allows distances between the force transmitter and the electronic unit to be 500 m.

Analog thermocouple amplifier board based on the AD849x from Analog Devices (successor of the AD597). This quad-channel thermocouple board converts the very low voltage signal from a thermocouple to a highly-linear, 0.005V/C output with either 0V or 1.245V offset (both configurations stocked) while removing unwanted noise from the signal. Many supply and output configurations are available with this board, though the PCB was designed with Arduino in mind. Specifically, the output header will plug directly into a standard Arduino Uno or Mega, with a pin-for-pin match for power supply, ground and analog outputs. With a 5V Arduino, temperatures from 0C to 1,000C are possible with the 0V offset board and -249C to 750C with the 1.245V offset board. If using a 3.3V microcontroller (Due, etc), the board must be supplied with no more than 3.3V to avoid damaging the microcontroller. Temperature measurement range is dependent on the supply voltage. It is possible to supply the board with higher voltages to allow temperature measurement over the entire operating range of the K-Type and J-Type thermocouples, allowing use with more capable data acquisition equipment.

BK Mikro TK91A is a scanner designed mainly for broken tool detection inside the tool changer of machining centers adding little or no additional cycle time. The controller stores up to 512 different tool lengths in memory and is controlled using M-Code combinations, a custom Macro or Profibus. The system can check tools whose lengths vary as much as 22 inches from the shortest to longest in the changer. Each of the 512 different tools can have individual tolerance ranges set varying between 0.05 and 25.4 degrees. This equates to as little as a 0.38mm difference in tool length variation that can be detected using a 500mm long wand.
