The SMT700 is one of the first of a new range of Sundance cards that includes a direct connection to SLB (Sundance Local Bus) compatible mezzanine card, without the need for a Sundance TIM. This enables a variety of cards to be added to a system, for example extra Ethernet ports, video in/out, High speed ADC / DAC etc. Data from these extra cards (along with data from the SMT700’s own inputs – up to 1Gb/s Ethernet, 2.5Gb/s optical links, and RSL links) can be processed via the Virtex 5, or by another linked card or module.

The full scale range is specified by the end user. A NIST traceable calibration certificate is standard. Many corrosive gases and pressures up to 1000 psig are easily measured. The PCI596 is based on the Xilinx VU13P UltraScale+TM FPGA, which provides over 12,000 DSP slices, 360 Mb of UltraRAM and 3,780K logic cells. The FPGA interfaces directly to the FMC+ DP 0-31 and all FMC+ LA/HA/HB pairs, making it compatible with a wide range of industry standard VITA 57 and VITA 57.4 modules. It also has interface to DDR4 memory channels (1x 64-bit wide, 8 GB). This allows for large buffer sizes to be stored during processing as well as for queuing the data to the host. PCI596 has x16 PCIe edge connector routed to the FPGA PCIe Gen4 hard IP block. In addition, 16 uncommitted connection pairs are routed to a dual x8 expansion connector, providing direct connectivity to a neighbouring FPGA (e.g. via Aurora, 10/40GbE, SRIO, PCIe) without the need to go through the host.

The M4x.66xx-x4 series arbitrary waveform generators (AWG) deliver the highest performance in both speed and resolution. The series includes PXI Express (PXIe) cards with either one, two or four synchronous channels. The large onboard memory can be segmented to replay different waveform sequences. The AWG features a PCI Express x4 Gen 2 interface that offers outstanding data streaming performance. The interface and Spectrum’s optimized drivers enable data transfer rates in excess of 2.8 GB/s so that signals can continuously replayed at a high output rate. While the cards have been designed using the latest technology they are still software compatible with the drivers from earlier Spectrum waveform generators.
