Hipot Tests

The hipot test (high potential test) or dielectric withstand test, is used to determine the insulation and dielectric strength. It is carried out on modules, devices and systems of protection class I + II. In this test, the insulation of the test object is subjected to greater stress by the high voltage than in normal operation. LXinstruments Magpie is a user-friendly evaluation and data mining application for our test database. The data to be evaluated can be preselected via complex, easily configurable filters. Based on the selected data, it is then possible to create reports and perform statistical evaluations as well as machine capability analyses. The graphical GUI supports easy administration of the database by authorized users.The LXinstruments Magpie evaluation licenses are always linked to the data source, which would generally mean a test system. The test data generated by the test system will be marked as available for evaluation while it is stored in the database.

Solar Array Simulator

Among other things, solar array simulators are required for testing satellite power supplies. An SAS (Solar Array Simulator), consisting of an interconnection of several Solar Array Simulator modules, maps the solar panels and displays the individual strings connected in parallel. Optionally, the individual SAS modules are monitored by a Second Level Protection, so that the test object is not damaged in case of errors with the voltage sources. Additional circuitry is implemented via project-specific test modules. The signal path to the DUT can be separated, e.g. for dynamic current measurements.The Keysight Solar Array Simulators used were specially developed for satellite applications and cover the significantly higher requirements regarding the control speed of MPP tracking compared to terrestrial applications.

It allows manipulation of the database from within the test sequence, for instance when data from upstream process steps needs to be accessed. Third party test systems can also be easily linked to the LXinstruments test database. One license for Woodcreeper comes with the TSCOE4 system license; standalone licenses are also available.

TSCOE4 Operator Interface Software Module

The TSCOE4 Operator Interface provides a graphical user interface for the operator or the implementer in a production environment. It permits selecting the test sequence and supports parametrization of the test. During the test sequence, the current measurement values are displayed in relation to the relevant limits and the pass/fail evaluations for each individual test. After completion of the test sequence, the global test result is visualized.In addition, there are online statistics available to the user, which show the measurement value distribution within the current batch.The editor which is supplied with the product makes it possible to adapt the user interface language to any new deployment location. Several languages – German, English and Chinese – have already been implemented and are available out of the box.

Testing the protective conductor is indispensable for assemblies, devices and systems of protection class I because it reduces the risk of life-threatening electrical accidents.The test checks whether the protective earth (PE) fulfils the criteria specified in the standards and can correctly discharge the current occurring in case of a fault.The ground continuity test checks whether the protective earth conductor is connected continuously to all metallic enclosure parts that can be touched by the user. The test can be carried out with low currents and voltages (simple continuity test).
