With over 100K Rittal brand components, Pixus has virtually unlimited configurations of chassis platforms for embedded computing. Typical plug-in modules are 3U or 6U with a 160mm depth. OpenVPX, CompactPCI Serial, CompactPCI, VME, and VME64x are open standard backplane architectures commonly used in 19" rack-mount Eurocard enclosure systems. (For OpenVPX products, see the Pixus OpenVPX section.) Enclosures are available to hold these boards in front-to-rear, bottom-to-top, and for 6U and 8U boards there is side-to-side cooling options. The chassis can come with or without integrated fan trays or with redundant push-pull cooling. EMC versions are also standard.

This capability allows it to operate in faulty backplanes that could damage other boards. The tester also detects, measures and identifies which signals have excessive voltages so they can be repaired before boards are loaded into a backplane.

The chassis incorporates two hot-swappable power supplies to improve the mean time to repair (MTTR) of the PXI system; it also offers an optional timing and synchronization upgrade that includes a built-in oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) for increased clock accuracy and external clock and trigger routing. It accepts PXI Express modules in every slot and supports standard PXI hybrid-compatible modules in up to five slots.

The onboard 24-pin ATX power connector and 8-pin connector for thermal detected board are featured. Furthermore, the backplane supports two onboard SATA ports (optional function). The HAB206 is perfect fit for AXIOMTEK's half-size CPU cards, the SHB210 and SHB211, which are built around the PICMG 1.3 form factor. We have an enclosure, the AX60501 and AX60530, to house the backplane.

Therefore, the sbRIO‑9401 can create three configurations: 8 digital inputs, 8 digital outputs, or four digital inputs and four digital outputs. With reconfigurable I/O (RIO) technology (CompactRIO only), you can use the LabVIEW FPGA Module to program the sbRIO‑9401 for implementing custom, high-speed counter/timers; digital communication protocols; pulse generation; or other applications. Each channel features transient isolation between the I/O channels and the backplane. Non-enclosed modules are designed for OEM applications.
