The 16454A is designed for accurate permeability measurements of toroidal-shaped magnetic materials. Since the construction of this fixture creates one turn around the toroid (with no magnetic flux leakage), the need of winding a wire around the toroid is unnecessary. Complex permeability is calculated from the inductance with and without the toroid. When the E4991A/4291B with option 002 is used as the measurement instrument, direct readouts of complex permeability are possible. In addition, it is furnished with a small and a large fixture to adapt to a wide range of sizes.

The PeakTech 2715 is a loop tester which is used to test the safety of electrical systems. These device measures the impedance of the short-circuit loop between the outer conductors of a circuit, whereby the probable short-circuit current is calculated. The protection of the circuit (miniature circuit breaker) must therefore trigger at a lower current than the expected short-circuit current, in order to avoid excessive heating of the lines and thus a fire risk. The PeakTech 2715 is due to its function and its robust design almost indispensable when performing new installations, but also for general checking of electrical systems, this device is the ideal companion.

Battery Impedance Meter

Operation is fast and simple. Just press the spring-loaded probes onto the two poles of the battery. After 1.5 seconds, the unit beeps (indicating good contact) and displays the battery voltage and either the number of siemens or milliohms, depending on the knob setting. The display continues to show these numbers after the probes are removed; it resets only when the probes are pressed onto the next battery. The impedance and voltage of any battery between 1.2 and 60 volts can be read. Because of the wide range of voltages, even single low-voltage cells, such as NiMH, can be measured. The manufacturers of some batteries specify impedance in milliohms while other specify in siemens (one divided by the resistance in ohms). This meter will display both types of impedance for any given battery. Accuracy is +/- 2% of the value.

Designed as a companion probe to Models 12C and 18C for driving integrated circuit lines so the Model 12C and 18C can be used to measure the response of adjacent nodes. The Model 7 consists of a flexible 6 foot, 50 ohm coaxial cable accurately terminated to 50 ohms in order to avoid undesirable reflections. A special miniature connector receives replacement coaxial probe tips that provide a shielded environment to within 3 mm of the fine tungsten probe point, thus minimizing capacitive coupling to other parts of the circuit.
