The SparkFun Photodetector Breakout is an updated version of the SparkFun Particle Sensor Breakout includes the MAX30101, a highly sensitive optical sensor and successor to the MAX30105 and MAX30102. The MAX30101 Breakout utilizes a photon detector to measure the amount of returning light that is reflected back from the LEDs. This is useful for various applications like particle (i.e. smoke) detection, proximity measurements, and even photoplethysmography. An innovative technique for expanding the number of channels per fiber involves an optical device, called an optical interleaver. For example, in most DWDM equipment, the standard channel spacing is 100 GHz. But spacing the signal-carrying frequencies every 50 or even 25 GHz can double or even quadruple the number of channels per fiber. This job is accomplished by an optical interleaver. Such a device takes two multiplexed signals with 100-GHz spacing and interleaves them, creating a DWDM signal with channels spaced 50 GHz apart. The process can be repeated, creating even denser composite signals with 25-GHz or 12.5-GHz spacing. The signals at the receiving end are recovered with the same devices used as splitters or optical de-interleavers. Thus, devices and/or networks can be upgraded without requiring that all devices be upgraded, or network bandwidth can be increased.

The VS-10a power supply is a light weight, portable, non-isolated “variable source” from 0 volts to 150 Vac or 0 volts to 150 Vdc and rated for up to 10 amps, thus the name VS-10a. It is comprised of an illuminated voltmeter that reads to the first significant digit, AC variable system output voltage, DC variable system output voltage, logic output voltage and one sense (continuity) contact monitoring points. Banana jacks for connection of test leads are spaced at intervals that allow the use of dual banana test plugs if desired. The VS-10a is protected by two levels of overcurrent protection; AC input, and ground fault protection by a GFCI. All circuitry is housed inside a custom designed case made from 16 gauge steel. An Internal fan dissipates heat buildup and exhaust through louvered side vents built into the case. The carrying handle is designed with a “spring return to rest” position and is padded for comfort. The case has been sized for optimum portability and is balanced from the handle during transportation. The case has a powder coated finish that is scratch, chemical and weather resistant. Rubber padded feet support the case when in the upright position and a convenience receptacle is located on the side of the case.

The PEM010 is a highly integrated millimeter wave transmitter that covers the 60 GHz global unlicensed spectrum allocations packaged in a standard waveguide module. Transmitter architecture is a double conversion, sliding IF with wide bandwidth capability through the up-conversion chain from baseband to carrier. The I/Q interface accepts analog baseband signals which provides for flexibility in design and applications. The baseband input optionally supports FSK/MSK modulation for non-coherent applications. The transmitter incorporates a complete waveguide interface with low-loss transition between the chip and the WR15 waveguide port. The integrated package is small and lightweight, with a simple to use multi-pin ST4 connector for power, reference clock, digital control port and baseband signals. Either of two reference clocks can be used for setting 540 MHz or 500 MHz channel spacing.
