General Purpose Low Profile

Our low profile load cells feature an advanced structural design that makes them extremely durable, accurate, and resistant to large extraneous shear and moment loads. To perform in a linear and predictable manner, the outside diameter of the load cell must be bolted to a flat rigid surface. When this is unavailable, our factory installed base provides a convenient threaded attachment point for easy installation and use in both tension and compression. All low profile load cells are stocked with the mounting base installed, but we can remove the base upon request.

YODA Profiler

The YODA profiler (“Yoing” Ocean Data Acquisition Profiler) is a “tow-yo” instrument to profile the water column with high spatial resolution from small boats without occupying much space. The instrument is provided with a deployment winch and sensors measuring conductivity, temperature, pressure, chlorophyll, turbidity and dissolved oxygen. The brush at the top of the instrument allows for a stabilizing effect on the free-fall sinking speed, which is approximately constant at 0.2 m/s. All data are stored internally and downloaded into a PC through a wet-connector and interface.

For maximum compatibility with a wide range of peripherals, the board supports all standard RS-232 modem control signals. The serial ports utilize 16C954 UARTs with 128-byte Tx/Rx FIFOs that enables data rates to 921.6K bps for reliable high-speed communications in data-intensive applications. This high-performance UART includes 9-bit framing support and is fully software compatible with legacy 16550 applications. In addition, the board derives a 62.5 MHz clock from the PCI Express link. This ultra-high speed clock is divided by a flexible 8-bit clock prescalar with 1/8 steps to provide support for the widest range of standard and non-standard baud rates.

SURFACE PROFILE GAGES

Steel is often abrasive blast cleaned or otherwise roughened prior to painting. The peak-to-valley height of the resultant surface profile is an important factor in the performance of applied protective coatings. Low profile may reduce coating bond strength (adhesion). Too high and the peaks may receive insufficient coverage and possibly rust prematurely. The costly application of more coating may be required if the profile is too high. For these reasons, surface profile should be measured prior to coating application to ensure that it meets contract specifications.
