Vacuum leak testing is the principal leak test method for testing parts that could have leakage from an external source into their housings and casings. Parts like underwater sensors or housings, outdoor electrical housings, sealed components, and components associated with vacuum sources are all prime candidates for vacuum leak testing. Operation of instruments that supply vacuum to test parts instead of pressure works in a similar, yet essentially opposite, manner as pressure decay testing.

A Universal Testing machine, also known as universal tester, materials testing machine, is used to test the tensile strength and compressive strength of materials. It is named after the fact that it can perform many standard tensile and compression tests on materials, components and structures. Along with these, there are many more capabilities of this testing machine. There are variety of terms in the industry that are used to refer to a UTM. Most common are “tensile tester”, “compression tester” and “bend tester”. An earlier name for a tensile testing machine is a Tensometer. Haptic Testing System

The Air Ventilator Haptic Test System performs automatic functional tests on air ventilation components to measure the force necessary for the execution of movements in the different components of the part. The movements are performed by a 6-axis robot that forces the components of the part to follow the desired routes while storing data on the force expended. This particular machine tests movable fins and knurled wheels by performing four test motions on each fin and two on each wheel.

The Automatic Wire Test Set (AWTS) is automated test equipment that aids wiring diagnostics of electrical and electronic devices. The Test Control Unit (TCU) uses resistance measurements, capacitance measurements, and AC/DC voltage measurements to perform continuity, insulation, and isolation tests. The AWTS Laptop CPU, hereafter referred to as CPU, controls the AWTS. The Eclypse Language Integrated Test Environment (ELITE) is application software that controls the TCU. The majority of the hardware for a test is contained in the TCU. The 128pin connector on the TCU front panel provides 128 energizable test points. Switch Modules (SM) can be connected in sequence or daisy chained to the TCU and provide an additional 1024 test points; 128 of those are energizable.

Smaller more tightly spaced test pads create a wiring challenge for the fixture fabricators, test engineers and maintenance personnel. Wireless fixtures solve the challenges associated with the nest of wires found in long wire fixtures. Wireless fixtures replace the “nest” of wires with copper traces on a multilayered printed circuit board called a Translator Board (T-Board).
