Interface And Signal Processing Units

The interface and signal processing units extend the field of application of Micro-Epsilon sensors. The interface modules are used to convert sensor signals into digital or bus-compatible interfaces. This enables interfaces such as USB, RS422, Ethernet/IP, Profinet and EtherCAT for numerous sensors. The signal processing units are also used to record several sensor signals, to calculate and output them together. This is necessary, for example, for planarity measurement or thickness measurement.

The Field Test Interface includes a zero insertion force (ZIF) meter socket, voltage and form selection, and connection points to link it with a TESCO Field Test Kit (Catalog No. 621, 630 or GA Series). When combined with a Field Test Kit and powered via inverter (commonly used on service trucks), the Field Test Interface will then power the Field Test Kit to create a single position, stand-alone, meter accuracy testing device for various socket based meters (both mechanical & solid-state). The VME323 is an Intelligent Quadrature Incremental Decoder VMEbus Board which can be configured for interfacing quadrature incremental encoders with or without an index channel. In index mode up to sixteen encoders with two quadrature channels and an index channel can be connected, and in non-index mode up to twentyfour encoders with two quadrature channels can be connected. The VME323 operates on two encoder input channels and decodes a pair of out-of phase signals in order to increment or decrement a counter.
