Analog Devices offers a wide range of high precision, multiplying current output (IOUT) D/A converters (DACs) that feature ±1 LSB INL and DNL specifications, from 12-bit up to an industry-leading 18-bit resolution. Our portfolio includes single and multiple D/A converters in small packages with parallel or serial SPI interfaces. Multiplying current output R-2R D/A converters allow for an external amplifier that’s optimized for specific applications and that does not require reference buffering, which enables high linearity. The SoftSpan™ feature allows software selectable output spans, therefore eliminating the need to add precision gain stages and the associated external jumpers, precision resistors, and amplifier circuitry. Integrated precision resistors allow for reference inversion, bipolar offset, and offset and gain adjustment.

The VI-700 Voltage and Current Source is a versatile precision dialable or remotely programmable voltage and current source. Its three ranges provide up to 20 V full scale (200 V with the HV option), and down to 100 mV resolution; and 20 mA full scale down to 0.1mA resolution. Both voltage and current outputs are available simultaneously. The output is set by a range selector and thumbwheel switches in the LOCAL mode, or by a digital input at the rear panel. The lightning wave impulse current generator is an impulse current generator that generates a simulated lightning current waveform . Its working process is as follows: first, the transformer charges the capacitor bank through the silicon pile, when the charging voltage reaches a predetermined value, the spark gap is triggered, and the capacitor is discharged through the total inductance and total resistance of the circuit. When the resistance is greater than or equal to the critical damping value, a unidirectional impulse current wave is generated in the circuit. When the resistance is less than the critical damping value, an oscillating impulse current wave is generated. The magnitude of the impact current amplitude is related to the circuit parameters. When the capacitance value and charging voltage are the same, the smaller the inductance value, the greater the current amplitude. In order to obtain as much current as possible, a pulse capacitor with a small inductance value is usually selected, and the total length of the connecting line should be as short as possible when arranging the main capacitor, so that the total loop inductance value can be reduced as much as possible.
