Gruenberg ovens can be designed as Class A ovens to conform to OSHA, NFPA 86A, Factory Mutual (FM) and Factory Insurance Association (FIA) requirements. Class A ovens are equipped with a high exhaust rate: because the heating elements are an ignition source so a high exhaust rate is needed to dilute the volatile vapors below the “lower explosive limits.” As a result, the heating elements’ kW must be sufficiently increased to compensate for the heat loss caused by the above-normal exhaust rate. In addition, for a Class A oven to be energy efficient, the additional kW required must be carefully calculated according to solvent load and operating temperature requirements.

Moisture: The presence of moisture within a material will result in poor adhesion, premature coating failure and poor appearance. For example, applying a powder coating to a damp wooden panel will cause steam to be created when the panel passes through the curing oven, thus causing damage to the coating. It is not sufficient to simply ensure that the surface is dry by touch. The surface of the substrate is often the driest point due to evaporation. It is important to establish the moisture content within the substrate itself. The moisture measurement can either be taken using a Pin moisture meter or Pinless (Contact-Type) moisture meter.

The Model T300U Trace-level CO analyzer has been developed specifically to address the challenges of low level monitoring as required, for example, in the US NCore network. Using IR absorption with a Gas Filter Correlation Wheel, the T300U is designed to allow ultra-sensitive CO measurements while still meeting the requirements for use as a US EPA compliance analyzer.The optical bench is enclosed in a temperature controlled oven, dramatically decreasing instrument noise and drift. The objective and field mirrors in the sample cell are gold plated to maximize signal to noise performance, while a temperature-controlled Nafion dryer on the inlet minimizes water interference caused by ambient humidity changes. Periodically, the T300U seamlessly corrects its baseline by routing the sample through a heated catalytic CO scrubber. This Auto Reference function corrects zero drift and reduces the effect of interferences.
