The TA-3C test fixture is a combination of the KMD540 testing requirements and the RDR-2000/2100 weather radar interface requirements. This panel allows the technician to test the KMD540 MFD as a stand alone item (with external simulators) or together with a radar sensor for a dynamic real time test. The 40-196 is a 10 Channel 5A Fault Insertion Switch, primarily designed for the simulation of fault conditions in automotive & avionics applications involving the reliability testing of safety critical controllers. It is designed to be able to insert different fault conditions between the test fixture and the equipment under test: Open-Circuit, Short-Circuit between signal pairs, Short-Circuit between signal pairs and user applied fault conditions e.g. Power or GND. Shorting relays on each channel enable UUT signals to be subjected to external user applied fault conditions or to be shorted to the adjacent signal in the same channel. Relays in line with the signal allow open circuit conditions to be simulated on either side or both sides of a channel signal pair. The switching topology of the 40-196 allows channels to be interconnected so that complex fault insertion systems can be constructed.

The base interfaces with removable, quick change Series 49 Universal Test Insert Kits. Three versions are offered, a blank base whereas the end user can configure the Base and insert kit to their own connector configuration, The 160 point model which uses four (40) pin IDC ribbon cable connectors to interface between the base and the insert kit, and the -I model that incorporates the same 4 block GR2270 style block interface as used on our Series 34 test fixtures. This allows for increased test point count and the use of Industry Standard 2270 style signal, power, and coax blocks. With fast-stepped FFT sweeps resulting from optimized data processing, the SA software application provides quick spurious searches over broad frequency ranges. The application enables simultaneous spectrum measurements using test and reference receivers. The multichannel SA pairs with the internal swept-signal generators for efficient measurements of spurious signals emanating from mixers and frequency converters. The SA application uses source-power and receiver-response calibration and fixture de-embedding, providing highly accurate in-fixture and on-wafer spectrum measurements.

Circuit Check began Strain Gauge Testing in 1999 when BGA/SMT technology started replacing PTH components, reducing strain levels was a reactive post fixture fabrication process. We quickly recognized that the “reactionary” process was neither efficient nor were we capable on knowing the lowest achievable strain levels. Our engineering team came up with visual tools utilized during design to easily identify areas of excessive probe force, though still not enough data was generated to identify the lowest possible strain. Finite Element Analysis software models the PCBA and test fixture and applies the pressures from test probes and board supports and indicates the micro strain level applied to the PCBA. Using the FEA software during our design process allows our engineers to modify fixture designs to attain the lowest possible micro strain before fabrication begins.

The panel switches and adjustment pots are labeled to match the test procedure numbers and the duplicity in marking makes it easier for the technician to understand each function. The UUT interface is through a 96 pin zero insertion force(ZIF) type connector to minimize contact wear. The expanded localizer and nav input pins J2-34/35 are exposed on the panel to facilitate the insertion of a 200 ohm shunt when required. Interchangeable pneumatics and manual lever options provide operation as a fully automated tester or as a manual bench top tester. These functional interchangeable options allow this fixture to grow with you as your production volumes increase. Test plate changeover is a quick 2 minute job. 4 thumbscrews to change the bottom plate and 4 SHC screws to change the top plate. The top plate drops down and slides out with the connector assembly. The bottom plate lifts up and out. The new plates slide back in. All rear panel connectors are mounted to the aluminum bracket on the top plate. This whole top plate assembly slides out together eliminating wiring hassles. Double sided access plate sets use transfer pins to get the signals from the bottom plate up to the top plate.
