Pulse Characterization Sensors

Pulse Characterization Sensors provide the ability to see and measure the temporal characteristics of pulsed and CW laser beams. Ophir Fast Photodiode Detectors are designed to convert optical signals into electrical signals which are then measured with third-party instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. Accessories are available to connect to IS6 integrating spheres or fiber optic cables. Attenuating filter accessories are also available to increase their dynamic range. Different models offer silicon, UV enhanced silicon and InGaAs PIN photodiodes, covering a combined spectral range of 193 nm to 1700 nm. Rise times range from 25 picoseconds to 3 nanoseconds. The fast rise times are achieved by an internal reverse bias voltage circuit. Power is supplied by internal batteries and/or an external power supply depending on the model. Detectors should be connected to a 50Ω impedance in order to maintain their nominal rise times. They can be connected to higher impedance loads, but this will result in a significant increase in the rise time. If higher output voltage is required, it is recommended to connect the detector to a trans-impedance amplifier with an Input impedance of 50Ω

The SSI is a Plug & Play Smart TEDS IEEE 1451.4 compliant portable handheld Load Cell Indicator. Just plug in a TEDS compatible Load Cell or Torque Sensor and the SSI will automatically self-calibrate. When used with a non-TEDS Load Cell or Torque Sensor, the SSI can be set up by simple front panel push buttons. The SSI can be scaled to a full 5 digit display from 0 to 99,999 counts to read directly in engineering units such as grams, ounces, pounds, inch pounds, etc. The SSI also has a Units key for automatic conversion of readings for load, torque and pressure. The SSI has an ultra-fast signal-sampling rate of 15,360 samples/second for true peak and/or valley testing capability. Auto-tare allows the meter to be set to zero for any input signal level. The SSI also features a USB port for data logging to a PC. You can also log data to the SSI’s internal memory storing up to 16,000 time and date stamped readings. The SSI also features 2 built-in solid-state alarm relays with LED and audible indicators. Piezoelectric ICP® accelerometers afford a very high signal output (+/- 5 volts full scale) and the ease of two-wire electrical connectivity. Their inherent ruggedness enables them to be severely over ranged without damage. The addition of internal mechanical isolation minimizes the high frequency stress that would otherwise be encountered by their ceramic sensing elements. This mechanical isolation, coupled with an internal 2-pole electrical filter, built into the ICP® circuitry, tailors the overall accelerometer response to assure data quality to frequencies as high as 10 kHz. Depending on the specific model, accelerations in excess of 50 kg can be successfully measured. These modern designs, with their internal elastomeric isolation materials are verified through calibration to remain dynamically linear and are enabling piezoelectric accelerometers to operate in increasingly severe acceleration environments.

Solar Array Simulator

Among other things, solar array simulators are required for testing satellite power supplies. An SAS (Solar Array Simulator), consisting of an interconnection of several Solar Array Simulator modules, maps the solar panels and displays the individual strings connected in parallel. Optionally, the individual SAS modules are monitored by a Second Level Protection, so that the test object is not damaged in case of errors with the voltage sources. Additional circuitry is implemented via project-specific test modules. The signal path to the DUT can be separated, e.g. for dynamic current measurements.The Keysight Solar Array Simulators used were specially developed for satellite applications and cover the significantly higher requirements regarding the control speed of MPP tracking compared to terrestrial applications.
