Serial Communication Products

Many types of external computer equipment have a serial ports to communicate with host PCs. ACCES I/O has Communication Cards for all of the popular protocols you may find on this type of equipment (RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485), ranging from a single port to eight ports on a single card. There are also optically isolated versions of some of these cards to ensure effective data transmission on long communication lines, even in electrically noisy environments. The PCI-IIRO-8 and PCI-IIRO-16 are low-cost, half-size cards that provide isolated input and output for PCI-Bus computers. The cards have eight or sixteen optically-isolated digital inputs for AC or DC control signals and eight or sixteen electro-mechanical relay outputs. PCI-IIRO-8 occupies four consecutive eight-bit registers in I/O space. PCI-IIRO-16 occupies eight consecutive eight-bit registers in I/O space.

These cards are 24-bit parallel, digital input/output cards designed for use in PCI-Bus computers. The difference between the models is that I/O connections to PCI-DIO24D are via a standard 37-pin D-sub connector while I/O connections to PCI-DIO24H are via a 50-pin connector. The cards are 4.80 inches long (122 mm) and may be installed in any 5V PCI-bus slot in IBM and compatible personal computers.

CONV232/485 and CONV232/422 convert between RS-232 communications (as used by the COM1 and COM2 ports standard on most motherboards) and balanced-mode, long distance RS-485 and RS-422 communications. CONV232/485 was designed for use with our REMOTE ACCES line when there is no RS-485 port on your PC, but may also be used in other, similar applications.

Model 104-DA12-8A is a PC104 board featuring eight independent 12-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and broadly configurable arbitrary waveform generation (ARB) capabilities. Other convenient features include 128K SRAM for waveform data storage, eight 4-20mA current sinks, three 16-bit counter/timers and fused general-purpose +5V and +12V power outputs. An economy version is available without the ARB feature as model 104-DA12-8.

Based on the XR17D158, the boards have eight enhanced 16550 UARTs, each with a set of modem signals (CTS, RTS, RI, DTR, DSR, CD) in RS-232 mode.
