Power Bead Inductors

Power bead inductors are typically used in high current multi-phase voltage regulators that power processors, memory modules and high current ASICs and FPGA in a wide range of applications including servers, graphics cards, storage and data centers. The construction consists of a ferrite core assembled over a 1T or 2T winding and which allows for extremely low DCR, high peak current and low AC losses. Pulse has single phase, integrated phases and coupled inductor versions. Our high volume manufacturing enables us to produce components that are cost-effective while maintain exceptional quality and reliability.

Molded Inductors

Molded inductors are constructed by pressing or molding a magnetic material around a pre-wound coil and lead-frame to form the inductor. Our molded inductors provide a fully shielded, high energy density, soft saturation solution for applications up to 110Apk. The construction enables low profile solutions in a cost effective and robust solution that minimizes acoustic noise. We offer a high saturation current series (commercial and automotive, -40C to 125C) and a low DCR series (automotive, -55C to 155C) in a wide range of platforms from 4x4x1.2mm up to 24x24x13mm.

Our broad line of catalog and custom solutions range from mW to 5-10kW and are used in multiple topologies including flyback, forward, push-pull, resonant, LLC and phase shifted full bridges. Typical operating frequencies are between 80-500kHz but solutions can be adapted for greater than 1MHz operation.

Drum Core Inductors

Drum core inductors are so named as the conductor (round magnet wire) is wound directly onto the ferrite core which is shaped like a drum or spool. The wire is then connected to the core, a plastic base or metal lead frame to form the surface mount termination. Drum core inductors come in unshielded (high saturation current but potentially more EMI) and shielded constructions (lower saturation current but closed magnetic path for lower EMI). The shielded constructions use either a second ferrite core or a magnetic resin epoxy to create the magnetic shield.

Our composite core inductors provide a fully shielded, high energy density, soft saturation solution for applications up to 120Apk. The construction enables the highest energy density of any available SMT inductors and also minimizes acoustic noise. We offer both commercial grade (-40C to 125C) and automotive grade (-55C to 155) in a wide range of platforms from 4x4x2mm to 17x16x13mm.
